Montpelier Primary School has a full governing body and details of its membership can be found in the downloadable documents section below. As well as termly meetings of the full governing body, we have two committees, the Education Strategy Committee, and the Strategic Development Committee.
Montpelier Primary School also has a Safeguarding and Child Protection Committee which includes two governors and which reports to our Full Governing Body.
During the last 12 months, our governing body has had the following changes:
Mr Rai, ex-headteacher is no longer a governor.
Mrs Bracken has moved from being a staff governor to being ex-officio governor as co-headteacher.
Mrs Garofalo has become an ex-officio governor as she is now co-headteacher.
Mrs Lannigan has become staff governor.
Membership:
The membership of the committee shall be determined by the Governing Body but should consist of not less than 5 governors. The committee should appoint a chair and clerk neither of whom should be staff members.
Quorum:
4 members of whom 2 should be non-staff
Meetings:
The committee shall meet at least three times per academic year. The committee shall produce minutes of all committee meetings which should be signed by the committee chair at the next meeting.
Committee purpose:
To ensure that our children receive the best education for their needs and that our staff receives the professional development to support this and their personal careers.

The committee shall meet at least three times per academic year. The committee shall produce minutes of all committee meetings which should be signed by the committee chair at the next meeting. Minutes of meetings/or a written report should be distributed to all governors subject to the need to maintain confidentiality.

Terms of Reference
The Safeguarding Committee shall be appointed by and report to the Governing body to assist the Governing Body and Headteachers to discharge their responsibilities for Child Protection and safeguarding at the school. The committee will support the Nominated Safeguarding Governor in carrying out an annual safeguarding audit as part of the school’s self-evaluation. The committee will normally meet twice a year.

Duties & responsibilities
The committee will keep abreast of changes in the law and national and local advice and consider information from the LA, DFE, and OFSTED. It will monitor and review policies, guidance, documents, and activities relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all pupils at the school and will take any emergency action required.
The committee will make recommendations to the governing body as appropriate on matters arising from any of the following areas of responsibility:
