Retirement of Mrs Field
After 20 years of excellent service to Montpelier, our highly valued Nursery teacher, Mrs Jackie Field, will be retiring this term.
Throughout my period of headship at Montpelier, Jackie's assured style of teaching has provided the perfect introduction to school life for hundreds of our children. The whole school community has come to depend upon her to provide a start for our children that provides a great platform for their future success. As parents, we all appreciate how important the first months at school are for our children. And for parents too. More so, perhaps, when we have never experienced it before. It is true to say that watching children skip happily in and out of the nursery bears testament to Jackie's skills, and the emphasis she places upon achievement being underpinned by happiness.
As a professional colleague, Jackie is held in the highest regard and the outstanding nursery that she runs, ably supported by Jane Tustian, providing us with a model of exemplary practice. She is highly respected by us all.
In recent months Jackie has experienced a period of ill health and therefore we have been unable to say goodbye to her properly. I am sure that parents and children - past and present - will want to show their appreciation for all she has done in some way. During the coming weeks we will think of the best way to celebrate Jackie's magnificent commitment to Montpelier school and let everybody know when a decision has been made. Most certainly, I am sure the PTA - to which Jackie dedicated so much of her time - will want to recognise her contribution to the school.
A Happy New Year to our children, families and staff!
We start the calendar year in the midst of an exciting academic one. Last term finished with some exceptional children's performances - six in total - attended by hundreds of parents and family members. The enthusiastic turn out for each show demonstrated the level of support that Montpelier enjoys.
