Headteacher's News March 2017Download PDF
It is always striking how well and thoughtfully organised all the PTA events are, and by such a small number of parents. Sadly this year a number of parents will be stepping down from their roles which they have fulfilled so enthusiastically and successfully over a period of years. This comes at a time when schools are facing tighter budgets and, decisions about cancelling or changing aspects of the curriculum have become a very real prospect for increasing numbers of head teachers. At Montpelier we want to both sustain and develop our unique and exciting range of curriculum provision for all our children. This will only be possible if parents show a willingness to lead and organise the PTA events that have proven to be so popular over previous years. Existing members of the PTA are very willing to provide advice and support to parents who may be able to take over the running of key events. Without this, it is inevitable that the school may not be able to provide such a rich and diverse range of opportunities for children in the future.
This newsletter provides a good overview of the wide range of curricular activities that have taken place during the past few weeks. Even more information is available at https://twitter.com/Montpelier_Sch where you can see photographs of school life. I have drawn attention to the importance of viewing school assemblies and performance as community events and the role that can be played in supporting us at such times. There is important information about absence before and after school holidays as a change has been made to the school’s attendance policy. My thanks to our administrative, support, teaching and leadership teams for making sure that children here have had a fun and informative few weeks. I would like to wish everybody in the Montpelier School community a happy Easter holiday and look forward to seeing you again in April.
