We are enhancing security measures in order to ensure that only authorised people are on the school site at specified times and this means that we are having to take a firmer line where breaches may have occurred historically. Unfortunately, a small number of parents missed their child’s performance at the end of last term due to late arrival. The receptionist is unable to leave the front desk and escort parents / family members to a performance because this leaves the school exposed. From now, anybody who arrives late for any event will be unable to attend unless another member of staff is available to take them to the hall or classroom. Similarly, parents and carers should not leave an event / assembly early as nobody should be walking through the building unaccompanied. Please ensure that you are able to attend a whole event and that you make plans to arrive in good time.
Happy new year and a warm welcome to the new term. We start 2018 looking forward to an interesting and optimistic year, with the next two terms continuing our renewed focus upon teaching and learning, the school’s core purpose. We are as determined as ever to ensure our children achieve well within a happy, safe and secure environment, despite having to make some changes due to challenges being faced by all state schools. The latter part of the autumn term illustrated all that is great about Montpelier – inspired children enjoying lessons, trips and challenging activities, parents and carers sharing in events leading up to the holiday – including the highly successful PTA Disco and many performances – and staff whose dedication and commitment always give the school its particular “edge.”
