Visitors to the school
I recently had the pleasure of taking a tour of the school with Sarah Donovan, the ex-head teacher of Montpelier School who left here in 1993. It was both a trip down memory lane and an opportunity to see the many improvements in the school. Mrs Donovan was impressed with our teachers, children, their work and our resources. Most importantly she commented on the positive and enthusiastic atmosphere she sensed across the whole school.
Dr Daisuke Fujita, Director of National Mental Support, Centre for School Crisis, Advisor to the President for School Safety Professor visited us last week to consider the school’s impressive safety and security measures. Montpelier is known nationally, and further afield, as a leading school in regard to the leadership and management of pupil safety. Dr Fujita was highly impressed with staff approaches to well-being and the learning environment that we have created here.
It would be remiss of me not to thank our teaching and support staff for their hard work, commitment and dedication over the past term. Former and new staff help to maintain the success of our school and there is no doubt that our children thrive here. The PTA disco served as a reminder of the generosity of spirit within our parent community. I enjoyed meeting so many parents during the evening and, I must admit, welcomed the many positive comments that were made to me about Montpelier. I will share this appreciation with my colleagues. We enter rehearsals for our 5 seasonal shows now, whilst carrying on with teaching and learning. I look forward to seeing most, if not all, of our parents before the end of term and would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy, peaceful (but not too peaceful!) holiday break when it finally arrives.
